HOSHEA 13:15-16 THE JUDGEMENT OF SAMARIA

Just as we have seen in our study of the Sefer Hoshea, Ch. 13; Vs. 15 and 16 are further explanation of the curse put upon The House of Yisra’el and Samaria (their allotted territory in Northern Yisra’el); for their outright disobedience to the Torah of YHVH (B’H).

The judgment of Samaria

15 “Though he bears fruit among his brothers, an east wind comes, a wind from יהוה comes up from the wilderness, and it dries up his fountain, and his spring becomes dry – it plunders a treasure of all desirable objects. 16 “Shomeron is held guilty, for she has rebelled against her Elohim – they fall by the sword, their infants are dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.” (TS 2009)

Vs. 15 begins by telling us who it is that will execute this prophecy against Samaria (The dwelling place of Ephraim), and it is none other than יהוה Himself. (Of general interest is the direction this prophetic wind will come from, which is from the East.) The verse continues by declaring that their source of water, from which all living things must have to sustain life, will be taken away; dried up by Him who provides it. Man cannot live, his society cannot develop, without water. The last part of this verse takes away the wealth of his nation, destroying whatever riches it may be built upon. So the situation for Ephraim is Grim. There will be no water to sustain life, and the wealth of a nation is destroyed, leaving them in a severe crisis.

Vs. 16 Now comes the ‘Cu-degras’ for The House of Yisra’el. and Shomĕrown (The transliterated Hebrew name for Samaria and the capital of the Northern Kingdom of  Yisra’el). Their water and their wealth which were both once plentiful, have now be taken away, but what of their future? If a nation is to survive, it’s population must continue to grow, but now יהוה continues His prophetic curse upon them. For her rebellion against Him, great violence will come upon them, causing the end of the House of Yisra’el. This is portrayed through the prophetic and actual destruction of their children even while in the womb. This, as explained, is carried out upon them by their enemies.

Yetzeki’el (EZ)39:23-24

23 “And the nations shall know that the house of Yisra’ĕl went into exile for their crookedness, because they have trespassed against Me, so that I hid My face from them, and I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword. 24 “According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.”  (TS 2009)

But with great chesed (unmerited mercy) eventually extended again to those of the Lost 10 Tribes, YHVH (B’H) continues His prophetic word in Yetzeki’el (Ez) 39:25-29

25 “Therefore thus said the Master יהוה, ‘Now I am going to bring back the captives of Ya‛aqoḇ. And I shall have compassion on all the house of Yisra’ĕl, and shall be jealous for My set-apart Name. 26 And they shall have borne their shame, and all their trespass they committed against Me, when they dwell safely in their own land, witi none to make them afraid, 27 when I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of the lands of their enemies. And I shall be set apart in them before the eyes of many nations. 28 And they shall know that I am יהוה their Elohim, who sent them into exile among the nations, and then gathered them back to their own land, and left none of them behind. 29 And no longer do I hide My face from them, for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Yisra’ĕl,’ declares the Master יהוה.”

Our brothers of the Ultra-Orthodox movement of “Chabad’, who consider all Yisra’el to be ‘Jewish’, have stated that the 10 Tribes of the Northern Kingdom have been so assimilated into the Goyim (Nations), so as to be no longer considered, ‘Jewish’. In other words, they can no longer identify them.

We as Natsarene of Beit Echad, believe that those who were assimilated carried the blood of the very Hebrew House of Yisra’el, forward to today; and it can be found primarily in those who identify themselves as ‘Christian’.

Parashah Ki Tavo – when you enter in

Torah: Deu 26:1-29:9[8]

Haftarah: Is 60:1-60:22

Dt.26: 16 “Today יהוה your Elohim is commanding you to do these laws and right-rulings. And you shall guard and do them with all your heart and with all your being. 17 “You have today caused יהוה to proclaim to be your Elohim, and to walk in His ways and guard His laws, and His commands, and His right-rulings, and to obey His voice. (Gen. 17:7) 18 “And יהוה  has caused you to proclaim today to be His people, a treasured possession, as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands, (Exod 19:5; Deut 7:6; Deut 14:2; [Eph 1:14]; [1Pet 2:9]; 19 so as to set you high above all nations which He has made, for a praise, and for a name, and for esteem, and for you to be a set-apart people to יהוה  your Elohim, as He has spoken.” (Deut 4:7) TS 2009

Shabbat Shalom Mishpochah

This evening, while welcoming the Spirit of the Shabbat into our home; with uplifted arm and outstretched hand we sang the Shema; (the words of Dt. 6:4) “…Shema Yisra’el…”, “…hear oh Yisra’el…”, my thoughts were again directed toward one of the greatest misunderstood messages of the entire Bible, and how it is connected so deeply to the Torah Parashah for this Shabbat.

Here in Dt. 26:16, we see how dear Yisra’el is to Our Creator. As they stand before Him, All of Yisra’el covenants to be obedient with all of their heart and with all of their being, causing YHVH to proclaim to their Elohim by walking in His ways and guarding His laws, and commands, and right-rulings, while obeying His voice.

How awesome is our Creator! To love Yisra’el so that He would cause them to proclaim to “…be His people, a treasured possession…” so He could set them “…high above all nations which He has made, for a praise, and for a name, and for esteem…to be a set-apart (holy) people to Him”! The grandeur of what has and is transpiring here goes so far above and beyond my wildest imagining that I shutter to realize just how great and terrible He is, and how difficult it is to comprehend His unmerited chesed (mercy) and ahavah (love) for us! How awesome is Elohenu!

So while you are letting that ‘soak-in’, consider this. Yisra’el, the twelve tribes who entered into this covenant exist today and are under the same Covenant made with HaKadosh Baruch Hu (The Holy One, Blessed Be He) now as then! Nothing has changed. Man has tried over and over again to change this relationship between Elohim and His People, but really, can man dictate to Him who is omnipotent, who is his Creator? How ridicules to even think for one moment that man-made traditions and laws can countermand what we have just read in D’varim (Dt.) 26.

Yisra’el is Yisra’el. It is not the Church, nor is it the Jewish State of today. Yisra’el are those Jews of The House of Yehudah, and the gentiles of The House of Yisra’el that have had their blinders removed, who have seen and responded to the call to return to Torah and recognition of The Lessor YHVH (Y’shua) of the Targums who is called Emanu’El (El who is with us). It is this House of Yisra’el that Y’shua came to redeem (Mattityahu 15:24) since it is they who have been lost following pagan teachings and ways while disobeying His Eternal Torah!

If you are a Christian, I pray that you would listen to the voice of HaRuach, The Spirit, who is calling to the drop of Yisra’elite blood that courses through your veins. You know who you are. You are the one who has questions that seem to have no answers. You see the confusion in the message you hear from your leaders that contradict what you read in the precious Word of Our Master. Why is that? You feel a special closeness to things that are Hebraic in nature, or desire to learn more of the Hebrew faith of the original followers of our Jewish Messiah. You are so precious in His eyes and heart as He calls to you to come back, come home, return to Him through obedience out of love for His unspeakable gift; remembering that we are to be as ‘one’ (Gal. 3:28-29). And this: you are not called to convert Jews to Christianity!

If you are Jewish, may you be blessed in your observance of the Holy Torah, guarding and preserving it through fire, war, and such terrible persecution. You who have been looking for the lost of The House of Yisra’el, the Ten Tribes of the Northern Kingdom who once belonged to the ‘Fallen Tabernacle of David’; they are here, and they are returning! Ezekiel 37 is being fulfilled in front of our eyes as you read these words. Be excited for them! Welcome them home with open arms! Teach them the Lashon Kadosh, the Holy Tongue and the precious words of Torah that you have shed your blood for all these many centuries of time. Do not fear them for you and they will be reunited into one body again, as it once was under our mighty Melech D’avid! Hoshana! And this, Goy are not called to Judaism, they are called to return to the Torah that the House of Yisra’el left so long ago!

So as we enter into the set-apart, holy hours of HaShabbat, be at peace and listen with your heart to what the Ruach has to say to you concerning this.

Let us renew our Covenant with Elohim, and welcome each other as ‘echad’, one with each other, even as he is echad. Come to peace with Torah and the fact that you are all called to be a special people, to be echad with Him in the Yisra’el of YHVH.

Be blessed this Shabbat as we walk together up the path to Y’rushalyim, up to the House of YHVH Elohenu, Melech Malchei HaMlachim!

THE EVERLASTING AVRAHAMIC COVENANT AND B’NAI YISRA’EL

According to Hebraic timekeeping, almost 6,000 years have passed since Adama, and Chava were created, yet a key component of the plan of salvation has in most cases been entirely overlooked, or completely misunderstood by both Christian and Jew. That component as presented here attempts to offer an explanation of the Prophetic Destiny inherent within the Covenant that Elohim made with Abraham; and what it means for us today.

YA’AQOB

יַעֲקֹב Ya’aqob – Jacob is named יִשְׂרָאֵל Yisra’el by Elohiym upon his return to Canaan from Padanaram. Why? Letting the Torah[1] speak for itself, we find in B’reshı̂yth (Gen.) 35:10-12:

“And  אֱלֹהִים ‘Elôhı̂ym[2][i] said unto him, Thy name is Ya’aqob: thy name shall not be called any more Ya’aqob, but Yisra’el shall be thy name: and he called his name Yisra’el. And El said unto him, I am El Shaddai: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; and the land which I gave to Avram and Yitzach, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.”

An additional possible explanation of why the name of Ya’acob was changed, comes from an Orthodox Jewish question/answer website, mi yodea:

Braishis 17:19 וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹקים אֲבָל שָׂרָה אִשְׁתְּךָ יֹלֶדֶת לְךָ בֵּן וְקָרָאתָ אֶת שְׁמוֹ יִצְחָק thus Yitzchak was named so by Hashem directly.

Avraham was named by his parents who were idolaters. Yaakov was originally named for the fact that he was holding on to Eisav’s heel. By defeating the angel of Eisav he got his new name which showed his superiority.”

This understanding and that of the Avrahamic Covenant are married together in the person of Ya’aqob, and his overall position as being the father of “…a nation and a company of nations…” that were yet to come.

After the incident at the tower of Babel (B’reshiyth 10:1-9), YHVH determined to call out a people who would be separate from all other nations and peoples. This Chosen People would be called to a higher standard of holiness, and would worship Him only, They would be obedient to His Everlasting Torah, safeguarding and preserving it, while causing its’ light to shine outward into a world of darkness, so that “…all families of the earth…” would be blessed!.

This calling was accepted without question by Avraham, Yitzach, and Ya’aqob; the Patriarchs of Yisra’el, who carried with them the Covenant of Physical Multiplicity as seen in the following scriptural references found in Be’reshiyth:

12:2,3 “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

13:16 “And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.”

15:5 “And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, so shall thy seed be.”

17:2-8 “And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face; and Elohim talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Avram, but thy name shall be Avraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be Elohim unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their Elohim.

22:17-18 “…in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

Have you ever noticed, that when YHVH wants us to take note of something, it will be repeated more than once? Here we have a  Covenant promise made with Avram, passed to Yitzach, passed to Ya’aqob (Yisra’el); on through the 12 Tribes of Yisra’el, down through punishments and captivity, deportation and assimilation; confirmed by the Nevi’im (Prophets) with its’ fruition seen “in that day[3]”, was one of physical multiplicity; that his ‘seed’ would become as the stars of the heaven and the sand which is on the seashore (friend, that’s a lot of people!):

This little noticed prophetic Covenant Promise, with such far-reaching, and astounding conclusions, has been hidden right in front of us all the time. If we follow them on through His Word they will take us from the time of Abram, all the way to the Second Coming of HaMashiyach and beyond!

Who can “count the dust”? Who can “count the stars”? Who can count the sand on every seashore? Why these challenges can not be answered by a mortal man, can they? There is but One who can, and who has answered all of them and more in His Word!

Even the best of our Astronomers, with the world’s best and most expensive equipment placed out in space as far as any such thing has ever been, cannot count the stars, can they? They haven’t found an end to the Heavens, have they? And the thought of counting the sand on the seashore, really? And if you thought that would be easy, how about counting the dust? Why if it could be done, every star, every grain of sand, every minute particle of dust across the world would have to be counted. The number would be astronomical! Of course, none of these choices are humanly possible. Elohim is telling us something very special about the covenant of physical multiplicity made with Avraham.

[1]  תּוֹרָה Torah, from the Hebrew root יָרָה  yârâh,  Is Hebraicly understood as Teaching or Instruction. This word does not translate into the English word ‘Law’, as many have been mislead or mistaught. However, Torah contains a total of 613 Laws that can be further divided into Commandments, Ordinances, and Judgements. Not all pertain to everyone, everywhere.

[2] אֱלֹהִים ‘Elôhı̂ym. As found in in HaSefer Torah, is a plural masculine form of the singular El, and as such means more than one El. This begs the question since we know YHVH is echad (One) D’varim (Dt.) 6:4, who is the other One, or One’s that complete the Plurality, and does your answer come from the Tanakh? If the answer does not come from the Tanakh, it is not acceptable as a valid proof.

[3] A common prophetic referral to the time when all things past, present, and future come together at the return of Y’shua HaMashiyach. Such a glorious day all the World has been waiting for! Come quickly we pray Master Y’shua!
