Q & A: BIBLICALLY CLEAN, OR KOSHER?

QUESTION:

I am better educated now on clean and unclean meats, now…I was told that only portions of a cow could be eaten. What parts are clean and does that apply to other animals?

ANSWER:

Shalom. It is good that you have chosen to study and learn concerning the Biblical dietary laws; which are a key part of becoming Holy, even as He is Holy (Lv. 11:44-47).

However, I believe you may be confusing what is called the Orthodox Rabbinical Laws of Kashrut (Kosher), with the simple Biblical Laws of Clean and Unclean. Not that there is anything wrong with applying some of the requirements of kosher living to your diet, if for no other reason than your personal health.

Just remember that in Orthodox Rabbinical Judaism, the laws of Kashrut are man-made additions too, and outside those of the written Torah. Being ‘Kosher’ according to Rabbinical Law is a complete lifestyle that goes far beyond the requirements of ‘clean’ and ‘unclean’ foods as listed there.

In the interest of not wanting to ‘through the baby out with the bathwater,’ we believe that there are certain requirements of eating Kosher that should be applied to the diet of the individual believer, simply for the reasons of eating as healthy as possible to maintain ‘the body temple’. Yes, you can go vegetarian or vegan. There is Biblical evidence to suggest Daniel and his companions were vegetarians, but there is still no evidence of a requirement by Elohim for His children to do so.

Eating Kosher can be a relatively simple thing. We do so in our home by ensuring that all processed foods have received the ‘stamp’ or ‘seal’ of one of the many Koshering Authorities existing today, such as the ‘Orthodox Union’. They are one of the largest and oldest of these organizations, and their seal is identified simply by the letter ‘O’ with the letter ‘U’ contained inside. But as I say, there are many such authorities, and Believers would be well served by ensuring that your processed foods have received the seal of any one of them.

As a matter of fact, you might be surprised at the amount and types of foods you already have in your home that are approved as being ‘Kosher’! Finding fresh meat considered Kosher can be a bit more challenging, all depending on where you live. Making sure that your food is Kosher, will add another, stricter set of guidelines applied to those already issued by the USDA.

Considering the level of genetic engineering being applied to livestock and most all foods today (thus increasing production and profitability), adding another, stricter level of inspection and acceptance beyond meeting the minimal Biblical standards of ‘Clean/Unclean’, becomes a necessity for the city-dwelling health conscious believer, unable to produce their own food.

‘Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire, its head with its legs and its inward parts‘ Ex 12:9 TS2009

As to what parts of a ‘clean’ animal are acceptable to eat; consider the first Pesach meal in which ALL of the animal was to be consumed. Surely that Mitzvah (Commandment) would not have been given to Moshe for all Yisra’el to follow if it had not been acceptable to Elohim. Our modern social mores and the Western/Greco/Romanish culture we live in today dictate certain sensibilities to us that would cause us concern, if not outright disgust, at eating certain parts of any living thing, even though the animal may be called ‘clean.’ However, that of itself does not make any particular part of the animal ‘unclean’.

There are many good books out there that will explain the process and benefits of a Kosher diet, even going into the types of packaging allowed to keep Kosher foods, well, Kosher. Many different types of packaging are in use today, with some using the enzymes of unclean animals in their manufacturing. This fact alone would cause what would be considered a Biblically clean food, through contact with it, to be ‘unclean.’ One such book simply titled “Is It Kosher?”, can be found at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Kosher-Encyclopedia-Food-Facts-Fallacies/dp/1583306161/ref=dp_ob_title_bk, as well as at other booksellers.

The thing for us as Natsarene to remember is that the laws of Clean and Unclean foods as stated by Torah, are the standard by which we are to follow. Going a step further and ensuring that these foods have been processed, prepared, and packaged under the guidelines of Orthodox Rabbinical Authorities, gives us the added assurance that our clean foods remain as free from contamination by man as possible.

Are there Old Testament Scriptures that mention salvation for the Gentiles?

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q. Are there Old Testament Scriptures that mention salvation for the Gentiles?
A. Yes! Several times within the Torah (first five Books), Goyim or Goy (strangers, foreigners, anyone who is not a Yisra’elite is considered a ‘Gentile’) are extended the same promises, and blessings that are given to Yisra’el if they wish to come into the Camp of Yisra’el (as opposed to ‘the church’). However, this requires that they live under the same laws and requirements placed upon all Yisra’el. This will be the downfall of all those who teach replacement theology, i.e.; the church has replaced Yisra’el. Most who follow that false theory and teaching, are deluded into thinking that all they have to do is ‘profess’ a certain name to be saved, then live just about any way the human mind thinks is right (Pro 14:12). The Ruach (spirit) calls to the hearts and minds of believers today, to leave Babylon (spiritual confusion and man-made false teaching) and return to the ancient paths that we have strayed from so long ago. Our Creators council for each of us is to “choose life” (Dt 30:19), and return to follow his teaching and instruction as found in His Torah.

WHY DOES THE BIBLE PROFESS LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING, BUT THE OLD TESTAMENT ALLOWED CITIES AND ALL OF THEIR INHABITANTS TO BE KILLED INCLUDING ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN?

Because certain people groups and nations had devolved to the level of animal depravity, incestuous relationships, inbreeding, cannibalism, human sacrifices, all without remorse and in total disregard to the Law of G-d; they produced nothing but hardened generational resistance to love, mercy, kindness, and the simple desire to do good; they insured their own ultimate destruction.

Why would a G-d of love and mercy allow them to ‘fester’; to continue in their evil and evil deeds? G-d will allow only so much depravity to exist before the ‘stench’ of it can no longer be tolerated and its destruction is the only answer.

What it boils down to is the condition of the human heart, and the simple recognition of the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. When the difference between the two becomes clouded, blurred, and eventually disappears within a given society, the society disappears. The G-d of Yisra’el extends His great protective hand over those people groups and Nations that show the slightest indication of a desire for ‘good’ within them. When that desire for good is gone, when the only desire is evil and more of it, eventual destruction will come.

Every day, G-d gives each of us the freedom to choose who and/or what we will choose to follow. With every decision we make, out of the countless decisions made every day by each of us, we have the G-d given freedom to make whatever choice we will. We have all been created with that basic freedom, and it matters not what country we live in, what government we live under, whether we are the captor or the prisoner; we all have the same freedom of choice. When we consciously and continuously choose to make decisions based on our evil inclinations, our hearts become hardened to the good, and we eventually become evil. Generation after generation of evil individuals producing offspring who desire only evil will eventually infect the very core of their society producing evil peoples, countries, and nations.

This was the condition of Sodom and Gomorrah at the time of Abraham. Abraham plead with G-d that they would be spared destruction if at least ten righteous people could be found living within their gates (Genesis 18:32). Well, as we know both cities were destroyed; men, women, and children. Those nations destroyed by G-d in the Tanakh began with individuals who had the freedom to make their own choices. Those choices led to the depravity that brought on the total destruction of their people, a destruction required to stop the madness.

So, as in The Bible, and especially in the Tanakh (what Christians call The Old Testament), we see the consequence of evil, but we can also see the blessings of goodness and mercy upon those who chose to be obedient. Rabbi Sha’ul (Paul) taught in the New Testament that all those things as related to us in the teachings of the Tanakh were given as examples that we might learn from them. Our G-d does not give us an impossible task, just to watch us fail.

The Commandments and Laws as found in His Torah (first five books of the Tanakh) can be kept if we so desire. The meaning of the Hebrew word Torah is teaching or instruction. Choosing to follow the instruction of Torah will equip and educate us so that we can make the correct decisions and choices that lead to freedom, blessing, and prosperity. Or, we can decide to follow our own laws, making our own choices based on the faulty teachings and philosophy of man, which in turn leads to the false security of material goods, and eventual death of the individual soul, a people, and a nation.  it is a choice that we cannot escape and it begins with each of us right now.

The Patriarch Yehoshua (Joshua) put it this way,

“And if it seems evil in your eyes to serve YHVH, choose for yourselves this day whom you are going to serve, whether the mighty ones which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the mighty ones of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But I and my house, we serve YHVH.”  Yehoshua 24:15 (TS 2009)

Q & A

WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE IN CHRISTIANITY THAT ARE UNAWARE OF JEWISH TRADITION, DO THEY ALL BURN?

We are not speaking of Jewish tradition. What we are actually speaking of are Xians who do not come back to the Torah prior to the return of Y’shua HaMashiyach. They who have the indwelling Ruach (Spirit), those who have questions that no one can answer, those who seek more of the Living Water but instead receive nothing, those who wonder why the texts of the New Testament seem as if they don’t agree with the Old (or themselves for that matter), those who long to follow in the footsteps of the Jewish Mashiyach Y’shua, who feel inclined in some way to things Jewish; they will all eventually return to their Hebraic Roots.

All Jews are Yisra’elites, but not all Yisra’elites are Jewish. There are 12 Tribes of Yisra’el. Ten of them were taken captive and physically removed from Samaria, the Northern Kingdom. These are the descendants of those who were ‘divorced’ by YHVH thousands of years ago because of their rejection of His Torah and Him as El Elohi HaYisra’l (Hoshea 1-2) because of their pagan idolatry; the same exact things we see in Xianity today. The House of Judah consisted of the only tribes left in Eretz Yisra’el (the Land of Yisra’el).

The blood of those captives of the ten Northern Tribes has been diluted by centuries of intermarriage and their dispersion over the face of the earth. Today, there are countless millions (billions?), that have a drop of that blood flowing through their veins. As part of the prophetic return (Ez 37) and reunion of all Yisra’el, and the return of Y’shua HaMashiyach, the Ruach is calling to that blood to repent and return. Return to the Torah (first five books of the Bible), and the El (G-d) of Yisra’el, their first love. So what of those who do not carry this drop of blood in them is there hope for them? Please read Zechariah 14:16-21.

And those who continuously reject Him, His Word, and His Torah (Torah= first five books; in Hebrew meaning teaching/instruction, not law, although it does contain Commandments, Statutes, and Judgements), choosing instead the ways of the world, and the lies and deceptions of satan, what of them? Those who chose instead to be lawless (antinomian), who reject Him and His free offer, and laugh at those who do? They will receive their reward at the second resurrection. They will appear before the Ancient of Days, with no intercessor, to receive their reward of destruction for all eternity.

Q&A: DID HaRUACH EXIST WITHIN B’NEY YISRA’EL PRIOR TO SHAVUOT (PENTECOST)

I’ve been told by many in xianity that the Ruach HaKadosh (The Holy Spirit) was not given, or did not exist, prior to Shavuot. Have you ever heard that ridiculous claim? We have ample testimony to the contrary in HaTorah! First of all, we can say without a doubt that we have, since the very beginning of time existed only because of Elohim’s life-giving breath, through which He placed His Ruach (Spirit) into the first couple, giving them and the human race, life. Claiming that the Ruach HaKadosh was given only at Shavuot and that no Yisra’elite living prior to then had never received it, is simply absurd and would be tantamount to claiming that YHVH did not breath the breath of life into Adama and Chavah, nor did He have a Living Spirit!

Our Torah Parashah this week (Bamidbar – Nu. 8:1-12:6) clearly speaks to this issue:

(11:25) AND YHVH CAME DOWN IN A CLOUD, AND SPAKE UNTO HIM, AND TOOK OF THE SPIRIT THAT WAS UPON HIM, AND GAVE IT UNTO THE SEVENTY ELDERS; AND IT CAME TO PASS, THAT, WHEN THE SPIRIT RESTED UPON THEM, THEY PROPHESIED, AND DID NOT CEASE. (26) BUT THERE REMAINED TWO OF THE MEN IN THE CAMP, THE NAME OF THE ONE WAS ELDAD, AND THE NAME OF THE OTHER MEDAD: AND THE SPIRIT RESTED UPON THEM; AND THEY WERE OF THEM THAT WERE WRITTEN, BUT WENT NOT OUT UNTO THE TABERNACLE AND THEY PROPHESIED IN THE CAMP. (29) AND MOSHE SAID UNTO HIM, ENVIEST THOU FOR MY SAKE? WOULD EL THAT ALL YHVH’S PEOPLE WERE PROPHETS, AND THAT YHVH WOULD PUT HIS SPIRIT UPON THEM!

There are many important lessons for us in this Parashah, and the one above may not be the most important of them, but it needs to be clear in our mind that the Ruach Elohim is not a Xian, nor is it a Jewish person, but it is the Spirit that comes from the Heart of Elohim to ours, that draws us through the gateway of the sheep pen, into the Camp of Yisra’el; which is where we begin our Walk of Obedience to Him, only out of love for His ‘unspeakable gift’! Anything else is pure legalism and would be an abomination to our Creator.
